Northwest Mounties / Approved Comics v1 #12, 1954 - In heroic fashion, a helpless woman clings to a Canadian mountie as a pack of wolves attack. Matt Baker fills the frame with the escaping figures, leaving just enough room for he wolves' craggy den. The scene is confidently drawn and composed with ample detail. Note how the woman's torn skirt conveys the viciousness of the animals while allowing for a bit of "cheesecake". Baker's work also appears inside the issue: a reprint from Northwest Mounties #4. Other artists in this golden age comic include Chuck Miller. This is 4 of 4 Approved Comics issues by Baker.
