Diary Secrets v1 #25, 1954 - Young lovers steal a kiss through an apar
tment window, just as the girl's mother enters. Matt Baker employs an triangular layout with masterfully positioned elements. The couple's warm embrace is nicely framed within the window itself and portions of the fire escape. Within the issue, three fine Baker reprints stand out. "Lovelife of an Army Nurse" and "Make-Believe Marriage" were both originally from
Wartime Romances #1, while "I Tried to Burn the Candle at Both Ends" is an early work from
Teen-Age Diary Secrets / Blue Ribbon Comics v2 #4. Other artists in this golden age romance comic include Chuck Miller.
