Tarzan #233 - Joe Kubert art & cover, Alex Nino art, Russ Manning reprint

Joe Kubert
Tarzan v1 #233, 1974 - In the third installment of Tarzan and the Lion Man, our hero must find his female companion before escaping a city of English-speaking apes. Joe Kubert delivers his best double-page splash of the series, depicting Tarzan amid flaming wreckage. His remaining story pages are loosely but capably drawn. In a separate story, Korak is captured by a satanic cult and prepared for human sacrifice. Alex Nino begins with a beautiful, multi-paneled sequence of the hero's arrival by sailboat. Subsequent pages, however, are less sensitive but adequately drawn. Like the two previous issues, Russ Manning newspaper strips fill much of the book, seen here for the first time in color since the 1960s. This is 27 of 44 Tarzan issues by Kubert and 3 of 4 Tarzan issues by Nino.
