Joe Kubert |
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #220, 1972 - Continuing the adaptation of
The Return of Tarzan, the ape-man follows Jane's trail to Algiers.
Joe Kubert opens the tale with a a duel between Tarzan and Count De Coude, conveniently placed against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. While not the usual jungle setting, the artist draws the pages in meticulous fashion. His renditions of north Africa are even better, suggesting time spent on research. The final pages begin to slightly wane in quality, but Kubert's cover is among his most memorable on the series. This story was later reprinted in
Limited Collectors' Edition #C-29. This is 14 of 44
Tarzan issues by
Kubert.
