Tarzan v1 #227, 1973 - A young African warrior and a young white hunter cross paths as they both participate in a rite of manhood. This coming of age story is loosely but powerfully drawn by
Joe Kubert. Panel borders are lightly defined and sometimes not at all. The effect brings a vastness and remoteness to the settings. Kubert only meets expectations on the cover, but his full page splash of the legendary snow apes (page 12) makes up for it. Topping it all off is his magnificent two-page spread (pages 2-3), displaying the ape-man immersed in his jungle habitat.
