True Love Pictorial v1 #11, 1954 - Frustrated and ignored, a young woman connives to capture an artist’s attention. While highly suggestive, Matt Baker's cover is beautifully rendered. The woman’s determined expression and evocative clothing paint her as an experienced hand. Note how the perspective of the skylight leads you from the masthead to the central figure. Even better, the large canvas acts as a literal barrier between them. Baker’s only interior art is “Men Offered Me Stardom” (reprinted from Teen-Age Diary Secrets / Blue Ribbon Comics v2 #5) but his cover alone makes the issue worthwhile. Other artists in this golden age romance comic include Chuck Miller.
