Detective Comics #443 |
Detective Comics v1 #443, 1974 - Six previous back-up tales lead up to this stunning climax, featuring the first meeting of Manhunter and the Batman.
Walt Simonson draws his lengthiest story yet, using his cutting-edge layouts and precise pacing throughout. A full page splash, depicting the Batman's pursuit of an assassin, is among the most memorable images. Simonson's page compositions and sequences are phenomenal, resulting in a near flawless work. This story was later reprinted in
Manhunter #1 and
Manhunter Special Edition #1. A golden age Green Lantern tale from
All-American Comics #98 (by
Alex Toth) and the Creepers' first appearance from
Showcase #73 (by
Steve Ditko) are also notable. This 100-page issue also includes artwork by Jerry Robinson and Bernard Bailey. Cover by Jim Aparo. This is 7 of 12
