Alex Toth (1928-2006) -After graduating from the School of Industrial Art in NYC, Toth began drawing comics for DC in the 1940s. Green Lantern and All-Star Comics featured much of his early efforts. By the 1950s, he moved onto other genres, working regularly for a number of publishers. For Dell's Four Color comics, he perfected a spontaneous style reminiscent of the great newspaper strips. Toth used minimalism to maximum effect in both his panels and page layouts. The artist returned to DC in the 1970s, pursuing clarity while experimenting with composition. Whether contributing to superhero, horror, war or western comics, Toth was an undisputed master of clear storytelling through economy and efficiency. Read more on Wikipedia.
