Steve Ditko (1927-2018) - Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Ditko studied at the Cartoonist and Illustrators School in New York City prior to entering the comics field. His first published work was actually his second paid comic story: a romance tale in Daring Love #1, circa 1953. A decade later, he co-created (with Stan Lee) both the Amazing Spider-Man and Doctor Strange (within Strange Tales) for Marvel. Ditko proved himself one of the most prolific artists in comics, including a decades-long relationship with Charlton Comics. His artwork was expressive and eclectic with a strong sense of composition. His level of detail varied widely, depending on the genre and his later works skewed toward the more abstract. His best artwork is interspersed throughout his entire career, but some of my personal favorites are Gorgo, Space War, Eerie, Creepy, Beware the Creeper and Hawk and the Dove. Read more on Wikipedia.
