Alex Toth golden age dc 1940s comic book cover - All-American Comics #98
Alex Toth
All-American Comics v1 #98, 1948 - Newly arrived in town, the Sportsmaster challenges Green Lantern to a series of athletic contests. The only catch? It's been rigged in the villain's favor. A young Alex Toth shows gusto in one of his early works for DC. His figure drawing continues to develop, but his style is unique and distinctive. His cover basically re-uses the story's opening page. This story was later reprinted in Detective Comics #443. Other artists in this golden age comic include Irwin Hasen and Al Smith. This is 5 of 9 All-American Comics issues by Toth.
