Tor v1 #5, 1954 - The last issue of the golden age series, Joe Kubert's art generally meets expectations. The first feature opens with a large, spacious panel, depicting a falling meteorite against a mountainous backdrop. Most notable is the "panelrama", a bold double-page spread that begins the "Man-Beast" story. Tor fights a large simian with his bare hands as other bloodthirsty apes cheer on. Both in tone and composition, the scene looks like a precursor to Kubert's later Tarzan issues. This is 5 of 5 Tor issues by Kubert. /// Kubert gallery
