Star Spangled War Stories v1 #151, 1970 - The Unknown Soldier, first introduced in Our Army at War #168, takes over as the lead feature of the series. Starting with a two-page spread for the opening scene, Joe Kubert's artwork delivers an exciting debut. Even better is his full page splash on page 9, presenting a bombing raid from an aerial view (see interior page below). Kubert's cover is a bold image even with the extraneous elements. Filling the rest of the issue is an early Enemy Ace tale from Our Army at War #153. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Russ Heath and Sam Glanzman. This is 51 of 96 Star Spangled War Stories issues by Kubert. /// key 1st series Unknown Soldier begins- - - - - - - - - -
