Our Army at War v1 #168 featuring Sgt. Rock, 1966 - Just out of range to be recognized, an obscure GI appears out of nowhere to help Sgt. Rock on several occasions. He seems to be a prototype of the bronze age Unknown Soldier character introduced in Star Spangled War v2 #151. The action-packed cover by Joe Kubert matches the intensity of his story art. Page 8 stands out for its forceful depiction of hand-to-hand combat between Sgt. Rock and a determined Nazi soldier. This Robert Kanigher story was later reprinted in Star Spangled War Stories v2 #157. This comic includes artwork by Jack Abel.
