Our Army at War #147 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Our Army at War v1 #147, 1964 - Though I applaud the attempt at a "book" cover design, Joe Kubert's artwork is relegated to too small a space to have impact. Inside, the artist delivers a more credible effort on "Generals Don't Die", the first of a two-part storyline. Even better is Kubert's backup tale, featuring a WWI pilot who always seems to miss the mark. The aerial combat scenes are among the best of the era. This story was later reprinted in G.I. Combat #144 and Sgt. Rock Special #4. Other artists in this silver age comic include Sheldon Moldoff. This is 84 of 236 Our Army at War issues by Kubert.
