Batman v1 #400, 1986 - Reaching a landmark in DC Comics, this four hundredth issue boasts an introduction by Stephen King and a bevy of great artists throughout. A prison break results in the escape of multiple super-villains, which drives Batman and Robin into action. Joe Kubert is tasked with illustrating one of the chapters, but his loose, spontaneous approach seems less suited for the copper age. John Byrne's opening splash and Bernie Wrightson's single page pin-up fare better, despite their differing styles. This issue also includes artwork by Arthur Adams, George Perez and Brian Bolland. Cover by Bill Sienkiewicz.
