Weird Horrors v1 #8, 1953 - While adequately drawn,
Joe Kubert's cover of a witch and her slave has nothing to do with the issue's contents. In the lead story, an American GI in World War Two has frequent flashbacks of his life as soldier in ancient Rome. Kubert draws the two different time periods with confidence. His large opening panel is the tale's high point, distinguishing past and present with contrasting colors. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ben Brown, David Gantz, Al Tyler and John Belfi. This is 2 of 3
