Fantastic Four Annual #1 - Jack Kirby / Steve Ditko art, Kirby art & cover + 1st issue

Jack Kirby
Fantastic Four Annual v1 #1, 1963 - The invasion begins! Sub-mariner and his troops and creatures emerge from the ocean to attack New York City. Jack Kirby turns in an impressive effort on one of Marvel's first annuals. Over thirty pages are competently drawn, composed and paced. A second feature retells the FF's first meeting with Spidey from Amazing Spider-man #1. It's redrawn and expanded by Kirby (with Steve Ditko inking) but mostly adheres to the original layouts. This first annual also includes numerous Kirby pin-up pages, featuring past villains and a q&a. Finally, the super-team's origin is reprinted for the first time since Fantastic Four #1. “Sub-Mariner Versus the Human Race” was later reprinted in FF annual #8 and FF Special Edition #1. This is 1 of 8 Fantastic Four annual issues by Kirby. /// key 1st issue
