Detective Comics #475 - Marshall Rogers art & cover

Marshall Rogers

6.  Detective Comics v1 #475 featuring Batman, 1978 - Through chemical means, the Joker applies his face on all the ocean's fish. Marshall Rogers opens with a magnificent splash page of the Batman atop a city rooftop. The architectural details, including the contrasting building styles, are phenomenal. Throughout the story, various perspective drawings are both believable and aesthetically pleasing. Rogers' rendition of the Joker, however, is the high point of the issue. His dramatic entrance on page 8 is enhanced by the twisting typography of his own laughter. On the cover, the Joker brandishes fish as if they were guns, reflecting his own brand of insanity. This story was later reprinted in Shadow of the Batman #4 and the Batman Strange Apparitions trade paperback. This is 8 of 13 Detective Comics issues by Rogers. /// Top 10 Rogers comics / Rogers gallery
