Joe Kubert
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #208, 1972 - A fine splash page recaps the previous issue's events, followed by chronicles of a youthful Tarzan among the great apes. Joe Kubert's workmanship continues in part two of the ape-man's origin. His rendition of apes, lions, panthers and other animals are among the finest in comics. Other highlights include the advent of a tropical storm on page 10 and the proud African tribesman on page 19. This 52-pager also contains Tarzan reprints from the 1930s and an ongoing adaptation of John Carter, Warlord of Mars. Other artists in this issue include Hal Foster and Gray Morrow. This is number 2 of 43 Tarzan issues with Kubert art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts or more Kubert or Tarzan issues. See also this blog's Joe Kubert checklist.
