Detective Comics #516 |
Detective Comics v1 #516, 1982 - Disguised as the known criminal "Matches" Malone, the Batman attends a self-proclaimed school of crime intent on learning how to kill him. Opening with a shocking splash page, Don Newton segues into a series of layouts where no two are alike. A few contain far too many panels, but others are more balanced. Page three employs multiple scenes but is nonetheless clear and well designed. Artistically, Newton continues to prove himself worthy of the dark knight's adventures. This story was later reprinted in Tales of the Batman: Gerry Conway #3. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Jose Delbo. Cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. This is 33 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton.
