Detective Comics #524 - Don Newton art + 1st Killer Croc

Detective Comics #524
Detective Comics v1 #5241983 - Continued from Batman #357, the caped crusader escapes the clutches of the Squid only to corner him later at the Gotham Aquarium. The artwork is splendid throughout, especially pages 12-15, where the main characters have their final confrontation. Don Newton's style is quite different from Dick Giordano's emphasis on linework. Thankfully, the inker makes adjustments, often adhering to the original pencils. After a cameo in the previous issue, Killer Croc makes his first full appearance here. Other artists in this copper age comic include Irv Novick. Cover by Ed Hannigan and Giordano. This is 37 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton. /// key 1st appearance Killer Croc
