Detective Comics #502 - Don Newton art

Detective Comics #502
Detective Comics v1 #502, 1981 - Can the Batman find Mademoiselle Marie's murderer before his friends are convicted and shot by old French partisans? Concluding this two-part story, Don Newton turns in a typically splendid effort. Large and small panels are juxtaposed in different ways, varying the look of the layouts. The artwork itself is visually appealing, thanks to Newton's mastery of light and dark. Note the brief, yet clever sequence in the bottom of the interior page below. This story was later reprinted in Tales of the Batman: Gerry Conway #1. Cover by Jim Aparo. This is 21 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton.
