Planet of the Apes v1 #13, 1975 - Intent on avenging his parents' deaths, Jason begins tracking down their murderer Brutus. On the way he encounters the Lightsmith, a wanderer than salvages past technologies.
Mike Ploog's drawings have a primitive feel, appropriate for the genre and series. The recap of Jason's past (see interior page below) is especially vivid. Most effective, however, are the nighttime scenes on pages 22-25, using high contrast and stark lighting to intensify the mood. The back-up tale features an adapted segment of
