Detective Comics v1 #526, 1983 - Marking the hero's 500th appearance in
Detective Comics, this "anniversary" issue features a large array of villains led by the Joker. Meanwhile, a newly orphane
d Jason Todd stumbles upon the Batcave. Don Newton follows an impressive two-page spread with over fifty pages of thoughtfully designed sequences. Newton's pencils (usually buried beneath Alfredo Alcala's inks) emerge in the most pivotal scenes. The larger panels employed throughout the story certainly help. This is 38 of 39
