Strange Tales #71 |
Strange Tales v1 #71, 1959 - A man enters an old European curio shop, stumbling upon the diary of the legendary wizard Merlin. While generally drawn with heavier lines, Steve Ditko maintains a high level of detail. Each panel seems carefully constructed, many of which could stand on their own. The gargoyle-like statues within the store add a nicely menacing touch, Overall, the artwork is competent and enthusiastic. This story was later reprinted in
Chamber of Darkness #6. Other artists in this golden age comic include Joe Sinnott and Don Heck. Cover by Jack Davis. This is 7 of 82
