Detective Comics #483 - Steve Ditko, Don Newton art

Detective Comics #483
Detective Comics v1 #483, 1979 - Returning to the neighborhood where his parents were murdered, Batman discovers a plot to murder a mob informant. Don Newton's work engages the reader while paying homage to the hero's origins. Figures and faces are drawn with a certain fluidity, thanks to inker Dan Adkins. It's also notable that this story was included in Best of DC #5 and Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. In a separate tale, the Demon is forced by Baron Tyme to locate Merlin's tomb. Steve Ditko takes over the art chores on this back-up series, lending his eclectic style to the character. Due to its sorcery theme, the artist's drawings bear some resemblance to his early Dr. Strange. Still, his approach is both imaginative and appropriate. Other artists in this comic include Jim Aparo. Cover by Dick Giordano. This is 1 of 4 Detective Comics issues by Ditko and 3 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton.
