Our Army at War v1 #59, 1957 - Befriending stray animals turns out to be a boon for an American GI. Joe Kubert infuses the tale with a touch of humor, while maintaining his gritty style. His opening page employs a silhouetted soldier on a white background, conveying the prevailing danger around him. Kubert's deft pacing and layouts reinforce this further (see interior page below). As usual, his effort outperforms the rest of the book. This story was later reprinted in
