Western Roundup #22 - Russ Manning, Alex Toth art

Western Roundup v1 #22, 1958 - A herd of western stories fills this Dell giant issue, featuring Roy Rogers, Buffalo Bill, Wagon Train, Jace Pearson's Texas Rangers and others. Russ Manning illustrates a superb Dale Evans tale, about a wild man living in uncharted territory. There are several many panels, drawn with great care and effort. Alex Toth's story is equally impressive, documenting the life of frontiersman George Rogers Clark. Detailed and textural, the artwork seems to benefit from the lack of word balloons (see interior page below). This is number 2 of 2 Western Roundup issues with Toth art and/or covers and number 9 of 10 Western Roundup issues with Manning art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Toth, Manning or Western Roundup issues. See also this blog's Toth checklist or Manning checklist.
