Planet of the Apes #14
Planet of the Apes v1 #14, 1975 - Jason and his friends become guests of the Lightsmith, whose home sits at the base of Mount Rushmore. Meanwhile, Brutus negotiates with his enemies for a mass of weapons. A glorious full page splash opens the tale, nicely contrasting the scale and height of the national monument with the characters below. Mike Ploog nears the end of his run on the series, delivering a reliably entertaining story. Page 14 tends to stand out, mostly due to its near absence of captions and dialogue. The back story features a partial adaptation of Escape from the Planet of the Apes. Other artists in this issue include Rico Rival. This is 9 of 10 Planet of the Apes issues with Ploog art. /// Ploog gallery
