House of Mystery #227 - Nestor Redondo art

House of Mystery #227
House of Mystery v1 #227, 1974 - The lead story features a timid partner of a toy company whose sister-in-law seduces him into murdering his brother. Nestor Redondo does an especially nice job with the illustrations, depicting both the flawed, flirtatious beauty and the old crone tasked with making a voodoo doll. The artist's sophisticated line works especially well in the more opulent scenes. Redondo's contents page, which precedes the story, is even better. His portrait of Cain relaxing in a torture chamber is masterfully drawn, providing one of the lighter moments in the issue. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Alfredo Alcala (one of his finest efforts) and Quico Redondo. This is 10 of 16 House of Mystery issues by Redondo. /// Redondo gallery
