House of Mystery #109 - Alex Toth, Joe Kubert art

House of Mystery #109
House of Mystery v1 #109, 1961 - A behemoth wreaks havoc in a small town, and inexplicably, only one man can see him. The artwork by Alex Toth has interest, depth and clarity. His designs of alien creatures are uniquely his own, creative and instantly recognizable in style. Nicely detailed and well paced, this story was later reprinted in House of Secrets #94. In Joe Kubert's tale, the world's landmarks are being replaced by alien structures. His sole story on the series, his pencils are unfortunately marred by incomplete and insensitive inking. Other artists in this silver age comic include Bill Ely, Mort Meskin and George Roussos. This is 1 of 1 House of Mystery issues by Kubert and 1 of 8 House of Mystery issues by Toth. /// Toth gallery
