Web of Horror v1 #2, 1969 -
Jeff Jones' painted cover is appropriately strange, but lacks the compositional strength of his previous issue. The artwork also appears on the back cover with little discernible benefit.
Bernie Wrightson contributes two engaging stories: the first features the artist's penchant for grotesque creatures, and the second is a masterfully illustrated tale of stranded astronauts. Their jungle-like destination is thick with richly detailed foliage on nearly every panel. "Mother Toad" was later reprinted in
Berni Wrightson Master of the Macabre #5. Other artists in this issue include Alfred Payan, Michael Kaluta, Ralph Reese and Roger Brand. This is 2 of 3
