Star Spangled War Stories v1 #144 featuring Enemy Ace, 1969 - Dressed in skeletal garb, a French squadron wreaks havoc on Von Hammer's pilots. Neal Adams and Joe Kubert combine their talents for the first time on this story. A two-page panel features Enemy Ace upside down, his cockpit boldly framing an explosion in the distance. Adams' style emerges on a handful of pages and panels, but Kubert's inks dominate the book. Even the layouts seem heavily influenced by the older artist. Overall the results are aesthetically pleasing.
