House of Mystery #219 - Bernie Wrightson, Nestor Redondo art

House of Mystery v1 #219, 1973 - Set in the 1600s, a town bailiff spares a witch's life in exchange for a bag of perpetual gold coins. Nestor Redondo's artwork is exceptional, filling each panel with painstaking detail. His level of craftsmanship seems especially high on page 5. Cain traps his brother Abel on Bernie Wrightson's amusing opening splash (see interior page below). His inking, brushwork and penchant for detial is simply breathtaking. This page was later reprinted in Welcome Back to the House of Mystery #1. Other artists in this issue include Alfredo Alcala. This is number 22 of 27 House of Mystery issues with Wrightson art and/or covers and number 8 of 16 House of Mystery issues with Redondo art and/or covers.
