
Nestor Redondo (1928-95) - A native of the Philippines, Redondo studied architecture before delving into advertising
and comics. From the 1950s onward, he prodigiously drew in hundreds of Filipino comics, mostly printed in black and white. By the 1970s, his work drew the attention of DC, who quickly assigned him to their mystery titles. His first published American work was
House of Mystery #194. From the early 1970s to the 1980s, Redondo
worked mostly for DC, culminating in impressives runs on
Rima the Jungle Girl and
Swamp Thing. He had a classical style which idealized human faces and figures. Beautiful and sumptuous, his illustrations brought a high level of sophistication to comics. Read more on
