Tarzan of the Apes #173 |
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #173, 1967 - With the help of natives and Gorilla-men, Tarzan helps Queen La recapture her Kingdom of Opar. With this accomplished, the ape-man proceeds to search for his look-alike impersonator. Large panels seem more numerous in this Russ Manning effort, resulting in more dynamic scenes. The Waziri tribe's attack on an armed camp (page 8) and the confrontation between the two Tarzans (page 20) are but two examples. This issue adapts the Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Golden Lion. Other artists in this silver age adventure comic include Jesse Marsh. This is 129 of 133 Tarzan issues by Manning.
