Tarzan v1 #164, 1967 - In this conclusion of Tarzan the Untamed, Tarzan searches for companions downed in an airplane crash. This leads to a hidden civilization of brutish but intelligent tamers of wild lions. Fanged and pointy-eared, the residents look a tad silly compared to Russ Manning's previous character designs. That aside, the artist deftly illustrates strangely exotic trees, animals and architecture. Like previous issues, this is a partial adaptation of an Edgar Rice Burroughs novel.
