Tarzan of the Apes #158 - Russ Manning art

Tarzan of the Apes v1 #158, 1966 - Adapting Edgar Rice Burroughs' Son of Tarzan, Jane and Tarzan's teenage son Jack makes his way to Africa and adopts the name Korak. This appears to be his first origin in comics, long after the premiere of his own series. Russ Manning uses a handful of larger panels for maximum dramatic effect. This includes the opening scene of Korak, whimsically dangling upside down from a tree. After an exceptionally long run, Manning also draws a Brothers of the Spear back-up story. Other artists in this issue include Jesse Marsh and George Wilson (cover). This is number 119 of 132 Tarzan issues with Manning art and/or covers (not including reprints).
