X-men v1 Annual #3, 1979Frank Miller's sole effort on this title is this dynamically designed cover. Cyclops' optical blast deflects into four diagonal lines of tension. It creates a focal point for Arkon, the story's antagonist. Terry Austin's precise inking loses some of the spontaneity of the pencils, but the strength of the layout compensates. The story inks over George Perez's pencils are also credited to Austin, but page 37 (see interior page below) looks suspiciously like John Byrne.
