Frank Miller (1957-) - Born in Maryland and raised in Vermont, Miller was a comics fan early on. His first professional work appeared in
Twilight Zone #84, which led to sporadic assignments for the major publishers. For Marvel, he produced covers for an array of titles, revitalized
Daredevil and created Elektra the assassin. Shifting to DC in the early 1980s, he wrote and illustrated the best selling
Batman: The Dark Knight, redefining the character. Like
Jim Steranko, Miller experimented with page layout and sequencing to enhance the storytelling. His compositions often overshadowed his drawings, but achieved a strong sense of cohesion throughout the pages.
