Showcase #83 featuring Nightmaster, 1969 - Nightmaster's second appearance begins with a recap of the previous issue. Transported to a bizarre dimension, our hero searches for his girlfriend with the aid of some newfound friends. Beyond the dark Joe Kubert cover, some of Bernie Wrightson's earliest story pages are featured. What he lacks in experience, he compensates with enthusiasm. According to my sources, Jeff Jones may have done partial inks, adding to the overall distinctive look. This is number 11 of 19 Showcase issues with Kubert art and/or covers and number 1 of 2 Showcase issues with Wrightson art and/or covers. This particular page is pure Wrightson, but, yes, Jones and Kaluta did indeed help with pencilling AND inking on these two issues of Showcase credited to Berni Wrightson.
