Korak Son of Tarzan #5 - Russ Manning art

Korak Son of Tarzan v1 #5, 1964 - Strange little men force Korak and Pahkut to carry them to their remote village, where they worship a large carnivorous tree. The story's folkloric quality gives Russ Manning the chance to draw some unusual scenes and characters. His rendition of the man-eating tree is fascinatingly eerie, almost otherworldly (see interior page below). Manning's follow-up tale of a rogue elephant has a more conventional setting, but is equally well drawn. This is number 5 of 12 Korak issues with Manning art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Manning or Korak Son of Tarzan issues. See also this blog's Manning checklist.
