Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #177 - Carl Barks art & cover

Carl Barks
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #177, 1955 - A seaside vacation leads to the duck family's participation in a scientific experiment. Ever looking for fame, Donald volunteers to be in a diving globe lowered to the ocean's depths. Carl Barks' level of detail is exceptional, mostly in the dark, underwater scenes. While the artist's cover is lacking, his page art more than compensates. This effort ranks among his best of the decade. This story was later reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #384. Other artists in this golden age comic include Paul Murry. This is 135 of 278 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.
