Avengers v1 #17, 1965 - Captain America leads a new team comprised of Hawkeye, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. Tasked with finding the Hulk, they encounter the Mole Man instead. Jack Kirby uses the Hulk's ghostly image as a backdrop against an already crowded layout. The additional type and graphics only add to the cover's claustrophobic feeling. Other artists in this silver age comic include Don Heck and Dick Ayers. This is 17 of 38 Avengers issues by Kirby.
