Marvel Premiere v1 #1, 1972 - Orbiting the Earth clandestinely, the High Evolutionary finds a human-sized cocoon in space and brings it into his ship. Communicating with the being inside, he shares his intent to create a counter-Earth. During the process, the exiled Man-Beast returns to attack his creator, forcing the being called Him to intervene. In the end, the High Evolutionary affixes an emerald to his savior's forehead and gives him the name Warlock. This Roy Thomas story was drawn by Gil Kane and Dan Adkins. Cover by Kane and Adkins.
