Detective Comics #488 |
Detective Comics v1 #488, 1980 - Profiting from a book deal, a group of wealthy men ponder the possibility of breaking out the author out of Gotham prison.
Don Newton continues to make Batman his own, while maintaining the darker aspects of the hero. Despite the rather confining title page, the artwork improves as the story progresses, in some cases increasing in detail. Not surprisingly, the best panels feature the Batman himself (see interior page below). This story was later reprinted in
Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. Other artists in this comic include Johnny Craig, Joe Giella, Jose Delbo, Eduardo Barreto and Frank Chiaramonte. Cover by Dick Giordano. This is 8 of 39
