Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge v1 #6, 1954 - Fed up with civilization, Scrooge journeys to a fabled Himalayan city where money doesn't exist. Accompanied by Donald and his boys, they soon learn that not everything is perfect in Tralla La.
Carl Barks uses a theme first introduced in the 1937 film
Lost Horizon. The artwork has many fine moments, including an all out brawl on page 16 panel 7. The highlight, however, is the exceptional panel of an enclosed valley (see interior page below). This story was later reprinted in
Uncle Scrooge #106. Barks' second tale, of Scrooge coercing Donald into selling his house, is delightful but far less exotic. This is 6 of 70
Uncle Scrooge issues by
Barks.
