Love Romances #53 - Alex Toth art

Love Romances #53
Love Romances v1 #53, 1955 - Working in the city as a secretary, Joan pines for the day she gets married and no longer has to work. Alex Toth's opening panel is rudimentary, but subsequent pages are skillfully detailed. The crowded subway scene on page 2 panel 2 is particularly good (see interior page below). His deft drawings are accompanied by spot illustrations in the narration. Mike Peppe's inks are tightly rendered but beneficial. Given their history of collaboration, I wonder if this story was originally produced for Standard publishing. This issue includes art by John Tartaglione, Jay Scott Pike and Vince Colletta. Cover art by Colletta. This is 2 of 2 Love Romances issues by Toth.
