Al Williamson |
Wolverine v2 #1, 1989 - Tracking a hijacked plane to remote Indonesia, Wolverine finds an island full of modern pirates and their hostages. Meanwhile, an ancient cult looks for a black sword of immense power couriered by an acquaintance of Logan's. In this intriguing first issue, Al Williamson's inks do little to improve upon John Buscema's savage pencilling style. On both the cover and story art, there's little to recognize from one of the best artists of the silver age. The back cover features a pin-up of Wolverine, competently drawn by John Byrne. This is 1 of 8 Wolverine issues by Byrne and 1 of 5 Wolverine issues by Williamson. /// key 1st issue
