Star Spangled War Stories #134 |
Star Spangled War Stories v1 #134, 1967 - Capitalizing on a "dinosaur" trend, this war title began incorporating them into covers and stories beginning with Star Spangled War #90. Russ Heath does a nice job with the cover, illustrating a PT boat caught in a monster's grasp. Neal Adams opens the story with an enlarged panel from page 13, which consequently loses detail. Overall though, the artist does an admirable job, expertly drawing an array of prehistoric creatures. A notable highlight is a panel on page 10, depicting a T-Rex attacking from above while sailors hurl grenades from below. This story was later reprinted in G.I. War Tales #2. Other artists in this silver age comic include Jack Abel. This is 1 of 2 Star Spangled War issues by Adams.
